SolHimal Work Camps

SolHimal have been running work camps in Nepal for the past eight years in places like Timure where SolHimal give huge support to the community.

July saw the first work camp coming to help out in Gurje. A team of 18 young, eager, French volunteers, headed up by Jean-Marc and Fabian, arrived to a hero's welcome with dances, songs and dramas performed by the Umbrella children.

The team then took off for Gurje, where they were to work on school renovations, sponsorship profiles, a guide for eco-tourism and spent ome valuable time with the children.

The team then took it in turns to return to Kathmandu where they worked on a sponsorship campaign amongst French tourists and targeting Thamel's hotels and businesses for their support and advice.

On return from Gurje the French team did something that no other group has ever done before, they put on a show for the children, retuning a favour that the children were happy to give and even happier to receive in return.

The group sang songs, in English and in Nepali, they put on a drama, they danced, they had clowns and they had the children rolling around in laughter. It was a lovely gesture that the children really appreciated!!
